I've loved looking at everyones pond pictures lately and finally got around to taking some of my own.  We've had such great weather this spring in the Chicago area that DH and i have been able to get ahead start on some things we wanted to accomplish this summer (our pond was completed the end of last August).  We planted behind the stream a Weeping Norway Spruce, and an ornamental Norway Spruce Shrub that's been shaped into a tree on the opposite side of the Japanese Maple.  Just before Easter we planted three evergreens in the backyard (side of the patio) in the hopes of securing some privacy in the future.  I absolutely love the look of River Birch Trees, so i had DH plant one of those also (hidden behind the back right post of the pergola).  Our final project (yea right  too funny) was to put up a pergola for shade over the patio.  We met a nice couple at a local pond club that offered us some fan tail Koi, 2 of the larger ones are in the 3rd pic... hope i can keep them alive.  Undecided

Wow...  Very Nice!!!!  I really like the finished patio right up against your pond!!  What are the techie specs?  Pump - external/submersible? Pond dimensions, filtering, skimmer, bottom drain?.. You know!!  All the stuff we DIY builders are interested in...

Great Job!!  Dave

Very nice.  The trees that you mentioned are my favorites too.  smitten

I love your stone patio and pergola.  One of these days when our wooden deck rots, thats what I want.  That may be a while, its nineteen years old and not a single rotten board.  ticked off

Looking forward to more pictures.

Finnpond - the guy talked us into a Tsurumi 5500 gph pump (submersible)... way to strong for me.  :'(  I wanted a calming effect, not raging rapids  ticked off  My husband put in a restricter that slows it down to more of what we like.  Yahoo  The pond is 11 x 16 with an 8 foot stream about 24" high, Savio skimmer... let's see what else did you ask me, no bottom drain (wasn't planning on koi, but now i have some  Roll Eyes )  Biofalls filter with media and a drain.  The pond holds about 1,750 gallons.
